This is dragging on. Sheesh. Imagine having to relive this for so long as a victim, and then to be questioned by JW attorneys. Its ugly.

Just A Thought Regarding The Bunker Video
by pale.emperor inas ridiculous as the bunker video was, a few things popped into my consciousness as i was riding the train today.
firstly, why did they go to all the expense and effort to not only create a bunker, but to furnish it like a living room complete with coffee table, armchair, shelves etc?
i mean, a bunker should be a bunker... boxes of tinned food, tools, medical supplies, emergency gear etc.

Everyone wants to feel special I suppose. JW's lap this stuff up. I did as well as many of us here. i sometimes ask myself why in hindsight. I think its just that it was exciting, and I felt special. I don't know.
Of course the amount of questions a thinking person would ask themselves while watching this is a long list indeed. But if you do that......you are just "FAULT FINDING". Big independent thinking red flag that is.

Columbus Circle monument could be next statue to go
by freemindfade inchristopher columbus could be next on the monuments chopping block.. the 76-foot structure honoring the explorer at columbus circle should be among the statues reviewed by the city for potential purging, city council speaker melissa mark-viverito said on monday.. http://nypost.com/2017/08/21/columbus-circle-monument-could-be-next-statue-to-go/.
if this goes on, these people are just validating what the orange one said, where will it stop?
how will people 200 years from now look back on us?

I feel like this is a red herring. The confederate statues of their war heroes in places like Charlottesville, are not from the civil war era. They were largely made and erected in the south, during the Jim Crow era, to remind people of color whose land and country it really was.
the statue of Lee, is being placed in a museum. So its only being removed from a place of honor. He isn't being removed from the history books, and of course now in Jr High and early high school when the civil war is discussed and the merits of the players in that war are discussed, we have another item with which to debate and help our high schoolers see different sides of an issue.
Is there the potential for abuse? Yes. Do some people not even know or understand what might be a reasonable gripe versus an unreasonable one? Yeah. But most people are far more reasonable.

Demonic content being used in the "Remember the Wife of Lot" video?
by The Fall Guy insadly it's in german, but i've been reliably informed of the crucial relevance of the moon, butterflies, owls, geckos, & mirrors in spiritistic practices - all featured in the "slave's" offering!
perhaps someone with a knowledge of german can provide a more detailed analysis.. according to this guy's forensic examination of the video, it uses spiritistic practices and symbolism repeatedly.
far too much to be a coincidence?

Nah. Just slick production value with special effects meant to impress the sheep. Thats it. This hidden imagery narrative has got to stop. It comes off as unhinged.

ESPN reassigns commentator Robert Lee over 'name coincidence'
by freemindfade inwish this was fake news, but its not.
for everyone thinking whats the big deal with marxists anarchists forcibly pulling down old offensive statues, this is the slippery slope we are walking onto... fools... please read 1984 people.. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41022954.
espn has removed a sports commentator from covering an american football game in charlottesville because he has the same name as civil war general robert e lee.. stash: /intesoft-inc.appspot.com/post/c782436dc86c4489b3948663ffc029db.html

Yeah this action on the part of ESPN sounds a bit silly. I doubt however they are going to ruin his career. It seems like an unnecessary reaction, but it won't impact him. They will put him on another game.
The argument here really is nonexistant. Nobody is "erasing history". Robert Lee will remain in history books, be studied by military strategists, and this very statue will be placed in a museum. He is simply being removed from a place of honor, since he fought against the united states, to enslave people who now reside freely in this country as citizens.
Is it a slippery slope? I don't know. I think a tiny bit of common sense exists believe it or not. A few people pulling down statues is really a minority of people who are even opposed to their being there. Some people need a light push to vandalize. I am not defending that. But the town leaders voted, and Lee goes into a museum. I don't see the issue honestly. If we were destroying it, burning the history books, or anything of the like, I would certainly be against it.

Hollywood messed up another one
by hothabanero ini am a big superhero fan and was looking forward to "the defenders".
the first two episodes are great but then ... liberalism happens.
one of the heroes (luke cage, big black guy) goes on this crazy rant, like a liberals wet dream of the bravehearth speech.

That bit stood out to me as well. It maybe is their attempt to relate to the zeitgeist. I didn't take it as propaganda. Just as the reflection of a characters development. Luke Cage (did you watch his series?) would say something like that.
Try not to be so sensitive maybe. That might help.

What would happen to a JW who respectfully refused to fill out a no blood DPA?
by Island Man ini know you'll be involuntarily disassociated if you unrepentantly accepted a blood transfusion; and i know you'll be disfellowshipped for apostasy if you openly disagreed with watchtower teaching.
what if you have done none of the above but simply respectfully refused to fill out the dpa without giving any reason for your refusal - so they can't accuse you of openly disagreeing with the no-blood doctrine and df you for apostasy.
they don't know why you're refusing and you're not giving them the reason - and you're being very respectful.. what can they do?.

Steve,
At least in the US, each group overseer is currently tasked with getting a copy of everyone's filled out DPA (not really a DPA....but you know).
So until he can cross this little item of his list, people get reminded often.
I have a friend who is not filling out his card, but is still an active JW. His overseer sends weekly e mails or reminders to put it together. He just ignores them. He currently does not have all of his privileges, and my guess is that those would not come as long as this thing hasn't been checked off.
We discussed his potential response to them should they press. Here is what we came up with.
"I have family in the medical field, and there is a great deal that can go wrong with even basic medical information in the hands of people I may not necessarily know very well or trust in certain cases. I'm comfortable handling this on my own and without intervention from the brothers, but thanks for the willingness. Oh and you guys might want to study up on the local laws....HIPPA regulations are in effect when you are storing medical directives, and there could be several ways you guys might be in violation of those regulations."

Sexist Watchtower quote makes me so angry
by Phoebe injohn cedars latest youtube video refers to last weekend's wt study article which some have referred to on another thread but i am truly outraged at the continuing misogynist attitude toward women.
not only did that study article say if women have a family to care for it will stop them gossiping or meddling into other people's affairs, lloyd shares on his video a talk by sam herd from when he was a c.o in 1971.
(i hope he has since changed his opinion!
